Short Bio

Sasha Ono is an award winning cellist and concert curator based in New York City where she performs and records music in various genres. Sasha has been featured as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Sq. Garden as well as international performance venues. Sasha’s recording work as a cellist can be found on the Grammy Award winning songs “Meta Knight’s Revenge” by the 8-Bit Big Band and “Refuge” by Geoffrey Keezer. Her studio work also includes soundtrack work for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu TV shows, Disney Pixar, and more. She can also be seen in the TV shows “Only Murders in the Building” and “Mozart in the Jungle”.

As an advocate for classical music reflecting the experiences of wider communities, she founded Lotus Chamber Music Collective whose mission is to perform and commission compositions by women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ composers. She has also founded the acclaimed series, “Comfy Classical” which has introduced many new audiences to classical chamber music. As an educator, Sasha is a teaching artist for New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. During her tenure teaching and conducting elementary and high school orchestras, Sasha developed a unique strings curriculum focused on developing perseverance, building effective practice techniques, and music literacy through ear training and improvisation.

Sasha Ono is an award winning cellist and concert curator based in New York City where she performs and records music in various genres. Recent performances include work with Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Ellie Goulding, Lauryn Hill, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Cyndi Lauper, Raye, Sarah Brightman, Kristin Chenoweth, Kate Nash, Jessica Betts, 8-Bit Big Band, Raye, Lawrence, Laufey, Mozart in the Jungle, and Streetlight Manifesto. Sasha has been featured as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician at venues including Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall,  National Sawdust, David Geffen Hall, Madison Sq. Garden, Brooklyn Mirage, as well as international performance venues. Sasha has also appeared on National TV on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”, “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, and “The Tamron Hall Show” as well as on NPR Tiny Desk. International performances include a tour of Northern Japan to raise awareness and funds for areas still heavily impacted by the tsunami and earthquakes.

She can also be seen in the TV shows “Only Murders in the Building” and “Mozart in the Jungle”.

LotusCMC has won several grants and recognition from national organizations such as Chamber Music America. She has also founded the acclaimed series, “Comfy Classical” which has introduced many new audiences to classical chamber music.

As an educator, Sasha is a teaching artist for New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. During her tenure teaching and conducting elementary and high school orchestras, Sasha developed a unique strings curriculum focused on developing perseverance, building effective practice techniques, and music literacy through ear training and improvisation.

Sasha received her B.A in Cello Performance under the direction of Julia Lichten at SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music and Masters of Arts in Music Education from Manhattanville College where she received the Fromkin Award and became a New York State Certified Music Teacher.
